1. Why Network Performance Matters in Healthcare
Healthcare institutions demand uninterrupted, high-speed connectivity to support clinical systems, surveillance networks, digital diagnostics and centralized hospital-management platforms.
In a medical college and hospital environment, a common hospital network system (Intranet) is required for connectivity within hospital buildings, while Internet connectivity supports external communication and services. At no point should network downtime be considered acceptable because even a short interruption can introduce operational and clinical risk.
As medical procedures increasingly use robotics and tele-video communication, real-time data exchange and continuous availability become increasingly important. The infrastructure therefore has to provide both high bandwidth and dependable performance.
2. Project Context & Delivery
M/S. Derwiser India received the structured cabling project through an L1 & T1 bid system from its partner M/S. Thrust System. Following final technical approvals from M/S Bridge and Roof Company (I) Limited, Derwiser successfully delivered the high-capacity structured cabling and Optical Fiber backbone infrastructure for Yamuna Nagar Medical College & Hospital, Haryana.
The deployment was engineered to provide consistent 10 Gigabit performance across data, voice, video, CCTV and other integrated applications.
3. Engineering Approach
Derwiser approached the project with a performance-first design strategy. The network infrastructure was treated as a critical foundation for healthcare IT, where clinicians need uninterrupted access to Electronic Medical Records (EMR), medical images and other digital information required for patient care.

4. CAT6A High-Capacity Access Layer
Over 132,000 meters of CAT6A cable and associated accessories were deployed to support approximately 3,000 10G data points across the medical college and hospital campus.
The CAT6A infrastructure provides 10 Gigabit copper performance at each port, enabling connectivity for hospital information systems, medical-imaging data transfer, surveillance monitoring, telecommunications and IP-based services.
The structured cabling architecture was designed to maintain consistent throughput at individual drops while minimizing latency and packet loss across mission-critical systems.
5. Optical Fiber Backbone
To complement the high-density copper access network, an Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) backbone was implemented to manage aggregated traffic and interconnect key infrastructure blocks.
The OFC backbone supports high-speed transmission across core network segments, providing stable 10G performance between distribution layers and centralized systems.
This backbone architecture provides the bandwidth headroom required for integrated medical applications, centralized monitoring systems and future digital healthcare expansion.
6. Logical Connectivity Architecture
Data • Voice • Video • CCTV • Access Control • VoIP • Medical Applications
7. Outcome & Operational Impact
Faster information exchange — Hospital staff can exchange data and images quickly through an uninterrupted data-communication environment.
Point-to-point clinical access — Physicians can access patient information from any of the deployed data points.
Real-time collaboration — Specialists and surgeons can videoconference with peers from other centres to review and collaborate on patient cases, research and treatment options.
Digital healthcare readiness — The high-capacity copper and OFC infrastructure establishes bandwidth headroom for integrated medical applications, centralized monitoring and future expansion.
8. The Result
What was once a challenging requirement for a government healthcare environment—real-time, uninterrupted digital communication—has been translated into an operational reality. The deployment supports the Government of India’s Digital India vision by enabling connected healthcare operations in a real-time environment.
