As a NAAC “A” graded Institute of Eminence, the University of Hyderabad required to increase the Physical and IT infrastructure requirements due to growing demand of expansions and innovations. An 1974-era campus, the existing network has to be increased with growing demand due new building / blocks to create bigger facility. The mandate was clear: build a backbone that could handle today’s massive data loads while remaining 100G-ready for the next decade of academic growth.
The Solution: A Hybrid High-Speed Architecture
Derwiser engineered a dual-layer solution designed for extreme throughput and long-term scalability:
- Horizontal Connectivity (The Edge): Deployed CAT6A U/UTP LSZH copper solutions, delivering guaranteed 10 Gbps performance directly to the user. This ensures that bandwidth-heavy research and administrative tasks never face local bottlenecks.

- Vertical Backbone (The Core): A high-capacity Single Mode Fiber (SM OFC) core was established to link the campus. This backbone supports 40 Gbps to 100 Gbps throughput, effectively eliminating latency between geographically dispersed buildings.

Key Impact Zones
The deployment targeted the university’s most critical functional areas:
- Innovation & Development Centre (IDC): Powering high-end research and digital incubation.
- Academic & Admin Blocks: Streamlining high-volume administrative data and classroom tech.
- Student Hostels & Lecturer Halls: Providing reliable, high-speed access for a massive, 24/7 connected student population.
Technical Benchmarks Delivered
| Layer | Technology | Performance |
|---|---|---|
| Access Layer | CAT6A LSZH Copper | 10 Gbps |
| Backbone Layer | Single Mode Optical Fiber | 40/100 Gbps |
| Environment | LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) | Enhanced Safety & Compliance |
Results Achieved
The completed network infrastructure provided the university with a significant leap in bandwidth capacity and operational reliability.
Key results include:

- 10 Gbps-ready access connectivity across the campus
- A 40 Gbps fiber backbone supporting high data volumes
- Improved network responsiveness and throughput
- Reduced risk of backbone congestion
- A scalable physical infrastructure aligned with future growth
Conclusion
The network transformation at Central University, Hyderabad reflects a forward-looking, performance-driven approach to institutional networking.
By integrating 10G-ready access infrastructure with a high-capacity fiber backbone, Derwiser enabled a resilient digital foundation capable of supporting research excellence, administrative efficiency, and next-generation academic expansion.
